The average annual population growth rate of Pakistan between 1998 and 2017 remains unchanged at 2.4%. The final results of the sixth census of Pakistan put the country’s population at 207.685,000.

The population growth rate is highest at 4.9% in the Islamabad, followed by 3.37% in Balochistan, 2.89% in KP, 2.41% in Sindh, and 2.4% in FATA. The lowest growth has been witnessed at 2.13% in Punjab.

Punjab share in overall population has dropped the most from 55.63% in 1998 to 52.96 (a loss of 2.67%), while KP’s share has gained the most to 14.69 from 13.41%, up by 1.28%. Balochistan share has also increased (by almost 1%) to 5.94% from 4.96%.

A minor increase has also been noticed in the population share of Sindh at 23.4% compared to the previous share of 23%. Fata’s share has remained unchanged at 2.4% while the Islamabad share has increased to 0.96% from 0.61% in 1998.

On the national level as a mother tongue, Punjabi stood first with 80,540,243 or 38.78%, Pushto second with 37,881,744 or 18.24%, Sindhi third with 30,259,704 or 14.57%, Seraiki fourth with 25,316,801 or 12.19%, Urdu fifth with 14,704,098 or 7.08%, Balochi sixth with 6,272,087 or 3.02%, Hindko seventh with 4,652,144 or 2.24%, Brahvi eight with 2,575,294 or 1.24%, Kashmiri ninth with 353,064 or 0.17% and 5,129,819 or 2.47% speaks other languages.

Punjabi turned out to be the largest mother tongue in Punjab, a province of 109,989,000. About 76,629,336 or 69.67% people living in Punjab reported Punjabi as their mother tongue followed by 22,745,725 or 20.68% Seraiki, while 5,356,464 or 4.87% reported Urdu, 2,177,781 or 1.98% Pushto, 912,908 or 0.83% Balochi, 164,983 or 0.15% Sindhi, and 2,001,799 or 1.82% other languages as their mother tongue.

Pushto turned out to be the largest mother tongue in KPK, a province of 30.509,000. About 23,449,217 or 76.86% people living in KPK reported Pushto as mother tongue, followed by 3,502,433 or 11.48% Hindko, while 1,134,934 or 3.72% reported Seraiki, 274,581 or 0.9% Urdu, 164,748 or 0.54% Punjabi, 27,458 or 0.09% Sindhi, 24,407 or 0.08% Balochi, and 1,931,219 or 6.33% other languages as their mother tongue.

Sindhi turned out to be the largest mother tongue in Sindh, a province of 47,855,000. About 29,478,680 or 61.6% people living in Sindh reported Sindhi as mother tongue, followed by 8,709,610 or 18.2% Urdu, while 2,612,883 or 5.46% reported Pushto and 2,541,100 or 5.31% Punjabi. And 1,067,166 or 2.23% Seraiki,  957,100 or 2% Balochi and 2,488,460 or 5.2% other languages as their mother tongue.

Balochi and Pushto turned out to be the largest mother tongue in Balochistan, a province of 12.335,000. About 4,377,691 or 35.49% people living in Balochistan reported Balochi and 4,359,189 or 35.34% reported Pushto as mother tongue, followed by 2,111,752 or 17.12% Brahvi as mother tongue, while 562,476 or 4.56% reported Sindhi, 326,877 or 2.65% Seraiki, 139,385 or 1.13% Punjabi, 99,913 or 0.81% Urdu, 43,538 or 0.28% Hindko, 17,269 or 0.14% Kashmiri, and 305,908 or 2.48% other languages as their mother tongue.

Punjabi turned out to be the largest mother tongue in Islamabad, a city of 2.003,000. About 1,046,968 or 52.27% people living in Islamabad reported Punjabi as mother tongue, followed by 370,555 or 18.5% Pushto as mother tongue, while 244,966 or 12.23% reported Urdu, 128,192 or 6.4% Hindko, 42,463 or 2.12% Seraiki, 42,063 or 2.1% Kashmiri, 15,423 or 0.77% Sindhi, 3,004 or 0.15% Balochi, and 109,363 or 5.46% other languages as their mother tongue. as their mother tongue.

Pushto turned out to be the largest mother tongue in FATA, an area of 4.993,000. About 4,913,112 or 98.4% people living in FATA reported Pushto as mother tongue, followed by 24,465 or 0.49% Urdu as mother tongue, while 13,980 or 0.28% Punjabi, 4,993 or 0.10% Sindhi, 3,994 or 0.08% Balochi, and 31,935 or .65% other languages as their mother tongue. as their mother tongue.

The ninth most spoken language of Pakistan is Kashmiri. Kashmiri speaking population in Balochistan is 17,269, in Sindh ???, in Punjab ???, in KPK ???, in FATA ???, in Islamabad 42,063, and it makes 353,064 total Kashmiri speaking population of Pakistan.

Note:- Punjabi language population is split in Punjabi, Seraiki, and Hindko therefore, actual Punjabi speaking population is; Punjabi 38.78 + Seraiki, the Multani dialect of Punjabi + Riyasti dialect of Punjabi + Derawali dialect of Punjabi is 12.19 + Hindko 1.24 = 53.21 and it makes 110,509,188 population of Pakistan.

If it was necessary to split the Punjabi language into dialects then it was required to split the Sindhi language in Kachhi, Thari, Lasi, Lari, Vicholi and Sindhi Seraiki.

It was required to split the Pushto language in Kandahari, Kakari, Bettani, Shirani, Karlani, Banuchi, Masidwola, Wazirwola, Taniwola, Khosti, Zadran–Mangal, Bangash–Turi–Zazi, Khogyani, Wardak, Ghilji, Peshawari. Also, Chitrali, Kohati, Kohistani, Sawabi, Sawati speaking was not required to be included in Pushto.

Gujarati, Rajasthani, Bihari, Marathi, Marwari speaking were not required to be included in Urdu.

Makrani, Rakhshani, Sulemani speaking were not required to be included in Balochi.

Besides this, a lot of Punjabi speaking settlers of Sindh were included in Sindhi on the ground of speaking Sindhi as a second language but without their consent or by pressurizing and harassing them. A lot of Punjabi residents of Karachi were included in Urdu on the ground of speaking Urdu as a second language but without their consent or by pressurizing and harassing them. A lot of Punjabi and Hindko inhabitants of KPK were included in Pushto on the ground of speaking Pushto as a second language but without their consent or by pressurizing and harassing them and a lot of Punjabi and Hindko inhabitants of Balochistan were included in Pushto and Balochi on the ground of speaking Pushto and Balochi as a second language but without their consent or by pressurizing and harassing them. Therefore, the actual percentage of Punjabi speaking in Pakistan is about 60% and it makes 124,611,000 population of Pakistan.
