The Areas of Original Punjab Region.

The original Punjab region or the region of Sapta Sindhu also called the region of Indus Valley Civilization is now divided into several units:

1. West Punjab (now in Pakistan).

2. Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa (now in Pakistan).

3. East Punjab (now in India). 

4. Haryana (now in India) 

5. Himachal Pradesh (now in India).

6. Union Territory of Chandigarh (now in India).

7. Jammu and Kashmir (a disputed area between Pakistan and India).

8. The area up to eastern Afghanistan such as the Gandhara/Kandahar region (now in Afghanistan).

9. Regions of Sindh and Baluchistan have also been historically associated with the original Punjab region.

The ancient names of Punjab are;

1. Panch-aal (Sanskrit)

2. Panch-Nadd (Sanskrit)

3. Paenta-Potamia (Greek)

4. Punj-ab (Sanskrit/Persian)

Other related names for "Punjab Area":

1. Sapt Sindhu (Sanskrit - the land of seven rivers)

2. Vaheek-Desh (From word 'Vahoona', as in Hall Vahoona, i.e; to work in the field, that means the land of farmers)

3. Madra-Desh (Puranic name. The country northwest of Hindustan)

4. Tak-Desh (Perhaps related to the country around Taksila)

The “Sapta Sindhu” as the name of Punjab region is mentioned in the Rig Veda. The “Sapta Sindhu” means the land of seven rivers.

The seven rivers of “Sapta Sindhu” region are;

1. Saraswati (thought to be the present day Ghaggar)

2. Satadru/Shutadri (Sutlej)

3. Vipasa (Beas)

4. Asikani, Chandrabhaga (Chenab)

5. Iravati (Ravi)

6. Vitasta/Vet (Jhelum)

7. Sindhu (Indus)

The region of "Sapta Sindhu" is also called as the region of "Indus Valley  Civilization".

The river Indus was the part of Sapta Sindhu and the region of Sindh, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa were the part of Indus Valley Civilization.

Those people claim themselves as Sindhi, Baloch, and Pathan are an alien people on Land of Indus Valley Civilization.

Those people claim themselves as Sindhi in Sindh are Arabic background and Baloch background people. They infiltrated and invaded Sindh. In a matter of fact, original inhabitants of Sindh were Sammat. At present Sammat are under the political, social, and economic domination of Arabic background and Baloch background people.

Those people claim themselves as Pathan in Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa are Afghan background people. They infiltrated and invaded Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa. In a matter of fact, original inhabitants of Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa were Hindko. At present Hindko are under the political, social, and economic domination of Afghan background people.
