The majority
of Pakistani Punjabis are Muslim but they are in a confrontation on the ground
of Punjabi Nation with Muslim Pathan, Muslim Baloch, and Muslim Hindustani
Muhajir due to political reasons. As a result, Punjabi Nationalism is growing
very rapidly in Pakistan in Muslim Punjabi.
Muslim
Punjabis are identified with their Nation identity as a Punjabi in Pakistan,
not with their Religious identity as a Muslim. In India, Hindu Punjabi and Sikh
Punjabi is identified with their Religious identity as a Hindu and as a Sikh
first and with their Nation identity as a Punjabi afterward.
The primary language of every Punjabi in Punjab is Punjabi only. If any Punjabi is not able
to speak Punjabi as a primary language than he/she is no more Punjabi.
Everywhere in the streets, cities, towns, villages, agricultural fields,
factories, markets, shops, banks, post offices, courts, police stations, bus
stations, railway stations of Punjab, people speak Punjabi. Punjabi people
speak Urdu as their second language due to the status of Urdu as an official
national, provincial, and educational language of Punjab.
In Punjab, non-educated,
agriculture-related and rural residents speak Punjabi, own Punjabi culture,
and follow Punjabi traditions but some quantity of elite class, government
servants and urban residents do not have respect, regard, and honor for their
motherland language, culture, and traditions. Therefore, the basic assembling
and vital binding force for Punjab and Punjabi nation, i.e. Punjabi language is
not an official and the educational language of Punjab.
As Punjabi
Nationalism is growing very rapidly in Pakistan therefore, Punjabis are in a
struggle for the official language of Punjab and Pakistan as Punjabi by
declaring Punjabi, Sindhi, Pushto, and Balochi as official languages of
Pakistan.
