Brahui
occupies the great mountainous band extending from the south of Quetta to
Lasbela. In the northeast of Kharan, Brahui are numerous. Brahui tribes usually
migrate to the plains of Bolan District for winter from Kalat, Mastung, and
Quetta districts and return to their homes after winter.
There are
three groups of Brahui tribes. The "nucleus" consists of the
Achmadzai, Gurguari, Iltazai, Kalandari, Kambrani, Mirwari, Rodeni, and the
Sumalari, which altogether account for only a small proportion of the total
number of Brahui.
The
majority of the Brahui population is divided up between Jhalawan Brahui and
Sarawan Brahui.
Jhalawan
Brahui include the tribes of the Bizanjars, Harunis, Muhammad Hasnis, Mengals,
Siapad, Nicharis, Pandranis, Sajdis, and the Zahris.
Sarawan
Brahui comprising the tribes of the Muhammad Shahi, Bangulzai, Kurd, Lahri,
Langov, Raisani, Rustamzai, Sarparh, Satakzai, Shahwani and Zagar-Mengal.
